Our average dispatch time is under 5 minutes from your call, with an on-site arrival of 15 minutes or less across our primary service area. Response times may be slightly longer in outlying areas or during periods of high demand, but we'll always give you an honest ETA when you call.
Yes, without exception. We operate every hour of every day β including all public holidays, Christmas Day, and New Year's. Lockouts don't keep business hours, and neither do we. There's always a live operator and a technician ready to be dispatched.
Stay calm and move to a safe, well-lit area. Call us immediately on (555) 123-4567. Our operator will take your address and dispatch the nearest available technician. You'll receive a callback confirming your ETA within a few minutes of your call.
Please have your ID ready β our technicians are required to verify your identity before any work begins for your own security.
We have a flat emergency service rate that applies to any out-of-hours call. This rate is quoted upfront before any work begins β there are no surprise surcharges applied after the fact. Our emergency rate starts at $89 and covers the callout, basic service, and return travel.
For your protection β and to ensure we only help authorised individuals β our technicians are required to verify your identity before opening any lock. Accepted forms of ID include:
We understand this may feel inconvenient at 3am, but it's a vital protection for all our customers.
In the majority of cases, yes. Our technicians are trained in non-destructive entry techniques and will always attempt these first. For standard pin-tumbler locks, we can typically pick or bypass the lock without damage in 90%+ of cases.
If non-destructive entry is not possible (due to lock type or damage), we'll discuss your options and get your approval before proceeding with any destructive method.
Our prices are based on the type of service required, the time of day, and the complexity of the job. Basic lockouts start at $49 during daytime hours and $89 for emergencies or overnight calls. Lock installation pricing depends on the hardware selected.
Every quote is given before any work starts, and the price you're quoted is the price you pay β we don't add fees after the job is done.
For standard services, there is no separate call-out fee β the service price includes travel to your location. For cancelled appointments where a technician has already been dispatched, a call-out fee of $25β$49 may apply.
We accept all major payment methods including:
Payment is taken after the work is completed to your satisfaction.
Yes. For all planned work (lock installations, access control, commercial jobs), we provide a written quote before any work begins. For emergency callouts, the quote is provided verbally by the technician on arrival and confirmed on the invoice you receive after payment.
Yes. We offer a 10% discount for senior citizens (65+) and active or retired military personnel on all non-emergency services. Please mention your eligibility when booking and have relevant ID available for the technician to verify. Discounts cannot be combined with other promotional offers.
Yes. We cut keys for virtually every application including standard door keys, high-security restricted keys, padlock keys, cabinet and filing cabinet keys, mailbox keys, and most vehicle keys. Our machines can duplicate most keys in a matter of minutes.
The only keys we cannot duplicate are those marked "Do Not Duplicate" on a high-security patented key system β in those cases, you'll need to contact the original supplier or locksmith who installed the system.
In most cases, yes. Our technicians are trained in safe-cracking techniques for domestic and commercial safes of all major brands. We can typically open fire safes, digital combination safes, key-operated safes, and combination dial safes. Some high-security commercial safes may require specialist equipment or manufacturer involvement.
Proof of ownership will be required before we open any safe.
Yes. We supply and install a full range of access control solutions including keypad entry systems, proximity card readers, smart locks (August, Yale, Schlage, and others), video intercoms, and master key systems for commercial premises. We can also advise on the best solution for your specific requirements β contact us for a free consultation.
We work with all major lock brands and can supply and install locks from Schlage, Kwikset, Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, Yale, Baldwin, and many others. For high-security applications, we typically recommend Medeco or Mul-T-Lock products. We can also work with customer-supplied hardware, though we don't warranty third-party products.
Yes. We offer comprehensive security vulnerability assessments for both residential and commercial properties. Our technician will inspect all entry points, assess existing hardware, and provide a written report with prioritised recommendations. Security audits are charged at an hourly rate β contact us for current pricing.
Absolutely. Rekeying (changing the internal pins so existing keys no longer work) is usually significantly cheaper than full lock replacement and is the recommended option when moving into a new home or after losing a key. We can rekey most lock cylinders in a matter of minutes. We'll advise whether rekeying or replacement is the better long-term choice for your specific locks.
Yes. A non-responsive key fob could be a dead battery (most likely), a programming issue, or hardware failure. We can replace the battery, reprogram the fob to your vehicle, or supply and program a replacement fob for most makes and models. This is typically much cheaper through us than through a dealer.
Yes, in most cases. For modern vehicles with transponder keys, we can generate a new key and program it to your vehicle's immobiliser using specialist equipment. You'll need to provide your vehicle registration document and photo ID. This service is available for the majority of car makes produced after 1995. Some luxury and high-security vehicle brands may have additional requirements.
Typically significantly less. A dealer replacement key β including towing your car to the dealership β can cost $300β$600+. Our mobile automotive service typically ranges from $99β$250 depending on the vehicle and key type, and we come to you. Contact us with your vehicle make, model, and year for a specific quote.
This is treated as a top-priority emergency. Call us immediately on (555) 123-4567. Our technician will reach you as fast as possible and use slim-jim tools or specialist equipment to open your vehicle without damage. If a child or pet is inside, always call 911 first β emergency services will attend immediately.
We cover the vast majority of vehicles including all major US, European, and Asian manufacturers. For very new models (current year), we may need to check equipment compatibility before confirming availability. A small number of ultra-high-security or rare vehicles may require manufacturer involvement. Call us with your make, model, and year and we'll confirm in seconds.
For most homes, we recommend a combination of a deadbolt (either single or double cylinder) and a quality cylinder lock or smart lock. Look for locks graded ANSI Grade 1 (highest residential security) or those meeting BS 3621 standard. Anti-snap, anti-pick, and anti-drill features are especially important if you're in a higher-risk area. We're happy to advise based on your specific door and security requirements β call or email for a free consultation.
We strongly recommend it. You have no way of knowing how many copies of the previous keys exist or who holds them β estate agents, former owners, cleaners, contractors, and their family members may all have access. Rekeying or replacing your locks when you move in is one of the most cost-effective security upgrades you can make.
Signs of lock tampering include scratches around the keyhole, the lock feeling stiff or different to operate, visible damage to the lock face or door frame, and a key that no longer turns smoothly. If you suspect tampering, call us for an inspection β we can examine your lock and advise whether it's been compromised and needs replacement.
Quality smart locks from reputable brands are very secure against physical attack β often better than many traditional locks. The main considerations are firmware security (update regularly), network security (use a strong Wi-Fi password), and battery reliability (check regularly). We recommend smart locks that also have a physical key backup for emergency use. Avoid cheap, unbranded smart locks with unknown security credentials.
Rekeying changes the internal pin configuration of your existing lock so that old keys no longer work and new keys are issued. It's faster and cheaper than full replacement, typically costing $20β$50 per lock vs. $80β$200+ for replacement. Rekeying is ideal when your lock is in good condition but you've lost keys or want to change who has access. Replacement is better when your lock is worn, low quality, or you want to upgrade security.
Yes, without exception. SecureKey holds a full locksmith licence (Lic. #LK-2024-9871) and carries $2 million public liability insurance. Every individual technician is certified, DBS/background checked, and carries government-issued ID and company identification at all times. Always ask to see both forms of ID before allowing any technician β from us or any other company β into your home.
All SecureKey technicians arrive in branded vehicles, wear a uniform with the SecureKey logo, and carry both a government-issued photo ID and a SecureKey employee card. If you're ever unsure, call our main number (555) 123-4567 and we'll confirm the technician's name and identity before you open the door. Never let anyone in who can't verify their identity with both forms of ID.
All work carried out by SecureKey is covered by our 90-day satisfaction guarantee. If a defect in our workmanship (not caused by misuse or normal wear) occurs within 90 days of the service, we will return and rectify it at no charge. Hardware installed by us also carries the full manufacturer's warranty, which we pass on to you.
